Updating Of Privacy Policy

All webservers will generally track information about their visitors. For example, whenever users visit an adsense publisher’s website and click on an ad, a cookie will be dropped on that user’s browser which will track basic information about the visitors, their IP address, browser details, timestamps, and referring pages, among other things. This information is tracked for routine administrative and maintenance purposes.

Google has recently emailed all adsense users about the launch of interest-based advertising.

Interest-based advertising will allow advertisers to show ads based on a user’s previous interactions with them in terms of types of ads visited, which will place the user in specific interest categories, resulting in them seeing ads more relevant to their interests.

With the launch of this new program, Google has asked all Google adsense users to update their privacy policy to inform visitors of Google’s privacy policy and the collection of information and how it is used. Visitors are also given the choice of opting out of having their personal information recorded.

If you are a blogger and using a wordpress blog, you can download this wordpress plugin created by Eric Giguere which contains all necessary information needed to comply with Google adsense privacy policy request, and allows you to avoid having to go through a lot of trouble creating your own.
