Does Posting More Frequently Really Bring On More Traffic?

Problem. When all the while bloggers would say that one should post regularly and meaningfully in order to create a list of loyal readers, increase traffic and RSS subscribers, now comes a new opinion: Courtney Tuttle did some research and found out that posting itself does very little to increase blog traffic.
So what does bring on traffic?
Some pointers:
- posting good stuff
- linking to popular blogs
- getting listed on search engine result pages
- write articles for directories
- go join some social sites
