In Direct Marketing, the subscriber list is considered the most important part of a marketing campaign. Direct Marketers thus pay a lot of attention to building a list of highly targeted subscribers.
In Internet Marketing, an email list serves the same purpose. A list of highly targeted email subscribers allows the internet marketer to market his product or service with a much higher chance of success than the usual random shot-in-the-dark approach.
How does one build an email list? With the proliferation of spam, it is understandable that the average reader is very wary of giving out his email address. However experienced marketers can create “Squeeze Pages” (also called “Opt-In Pages“) that will allay the fears of spam by explaining in detail to the potential subscriber what he will be receiving for giving away his name and email, as well as stressing that his address will not be used for spamming and will be kept private. Businesses that use squeeze pages responsibly do experience a significant boost in their sales, due to the fact that the subscriber, in entering his details, is knowingly and agreeably open to certain specific and related sales pitches, which will come in the form of regular emails or newsletters.
What does a squeeze page consist of? Simply put, a squeeze page is a small form that the reader fills up, usually with the barest minimum of information needed, namely the first name and the email address. Very simple. All that is needed is for you to convince the reader to fill it up. Even then, that is usually the toughest part. Nobody is prepared to do something for nothing.
We can now break down the squeeze page into various components.
1. The Headline.
2. Describe the Problem or Situation.
3. A Call to Action
4. The Bribe.
5. A Squeeze Box
6. A statement
1. The Headline. The Problem. A highlighted eye-catching short description of a problem which will induce the reader to read further. Usually one line as a teaser question or statement.

THE FATBURNING SPECIALIST
2. Describe the Problem or Situation. 5-6 bullet lines describing the problem, how it affects the reader and the benefits of taking a particular course of action.
eg:
- Lose that weight you have always dreamed of losing!
- Fit right back into those clothes you had chucked away because you couldn’t get into them without tearing at the seams
- Live a much healthier, longer life
- Get admiring glances and comments from those who so recently were talking about your excess weight
- Get self-esteem back into your life!
3. A Call to Action
eg:
4. The Bribe. An offer of a solution in the form of information in regular email or newsletter, together with a free offer, such as a free ebook or a free download of a useful article, or a video. Who does not want something for free?
eg: Download a Video on Fat Loss Secrets for FREE! Just fill in the box below.
5. A Squeeze Box (also called the Opt-In Box, or Johnson Box) where the reader fills in his details in order to get his freebie.
eg:
6. A statement that the details will not be used for spam.
eg: Please use an email address you check regularly so you can receive all information. Your details will be strictly protected and safe. It will never be sold or shared.
