8 Ways To Build An Opt-In List

One of the most important things that you can do in your online marketing business is to build an opt-in list. This refers to an email list of persons who have expressed an interest in whatever you have been offering and they have opted in to receive mailers from you for that item you offer, and by implication, other items related to this. It refers to a captive market who generally will not run away from you (opt out) if you continue to send them items of interest to them, whether they are free, cheap or value offers or news/items of interest that they may look forward to.
Sources that you can use to build your opt-in list.
YOUR OWN
1. Targetted opt-in subscribers. These are often the best ones, having entered your opt-in page by clicking on your advertisements (pay-per-click ads). The disadvantage is the cost.
2. Those visitors who opt in from your website. Get them to leave you their email address by offering them some interesting or free items or downloads or get them to subscribe to your newsletter.
3. Joint venture lists. Have a joint venture with your business partners whereby you send your opt-in offer to their email list (make sure it is an offer endorsed by them). If the clients on their list opt in, you have additional potential clients to sell to, and if they buy, you share your profits with your business partner. Return the favor by offering your list to your partner. It can only work to your advantage by giving you more income.
4. In all forms of advertising you do, leave your email address. Encourage readers to contact you by email, as this forms a new list of email clients you can sell to.
5. Press Releases: In your press release about a product or service, encourage readers to leave you their email to receive some free report or free email product.
6. Referrals. When anybody contacts you by email for your product or service, ask them to leave emails of their friends, relatives or anybody who might have an interest in what you offer.
7. Organizations. If you belong to an organization of people with similar interests, get their email addresses.
BOUGHT/RENTED LISTS
8.There are lists of emails for sale or rental. The general concensus of opinion are that these tend to be rubbish, composed mostly of non-existent addresses or persons who are not interested in the first place, How do you deal with these? Instead of discarding the list, maximise its benefits by sending them emails offering those interested something for free if they will opt-in to your list. This will filter out those rubbish or non-existent subscribers or those who not interested. At least this way you will not have wasted your money by purchasing a useless list.
